Hallucination

When an AI system states something confidently that isn't in its sources or isn't true.

A hallucination is a fluent, confident, wrong answer. General chatbots produce them because they're built to answer everything. In a tutoring context the risk is a made-up question, a wrong method, or an answer that contradicts the centre's own key, delivered to a student with the centre's logo on it.

The defence is grounding plus approval: only produce from the centre's material, cite the page, reject anything that can't be traced, and let the owner see everything before a student does.
